Evan Johnston
About Candidate
I’m a marine biologist, diving instructor, underwater photographer with a real passion for marine conservation. I’m a confident naturalist with a wide knowledge of Indian and Atlantic Ocean biodiversity and ecosystems – from seaweeds to seabirds and everything in between.
I’ve spent countless hours working on boats and ~1500hrs in the water across different roles, as a PADI Divemaster, SSI Open Water Instructor, Freedive & Snorkel Guide and as a Photographer/Videographer.
I’m confident working in water as cold as 7c and have 3 years experience guiding basking shark encounters in the rough conditions of the North Atlantic. I have experience diving in low viz and in strong currents, both drifting and with a reef hook, and diving with large marine predators.
I’m proactive, safety conscious and a great communicator – taking pride in sharing my passion with my students and guests. I always aim to give the best experience possible and share my love of the natural world.
