Job Description

OWSI Dive Program Coordinator, Seychelles.

Instructor Credentials:
EFR, OWSI

Lead Dive Training in a Marine Conservation Hub.
Location: Cap Ternay, Seychelles | Start Date: Mid-August/September |  Duration: 1 year+

🌎 DIVE DEEP INTO PURPOSEFUL WORK

You’re a certified dive pro who’s as passionate about teaching as you are about the ocean. You thrive in structured environments, know how to keep your cool when equipment breaks down, and light up when your students finally get it. You’re looking for a role where your skills can support something bigger than just diving for fun.

At GVI Cap Ternay, you’ll coordinate and deliver PADI training as part of a mission-driven marine conservation operation—training the next generation of researchers, protecting fragile ecosystems, and building something lasting in one of the world’s most incredible underwater regions.

✨ WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

As our Dive Program Coordinator, you’ll lead all diving operations on base—organising courses, managing equipment, maintaining safety standards, and working closely with the science and operations team to ensure seamless scheduling.

Your work will directly support marine conservation training, ensuring participants are not only qualified but also prepared to contribute to field surveys safely and effectively. This is not a dive shop—it’s a conservation engine, and you’re at the heart of it.

🎯 WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Delivering dive courses (AOW to Divemaster) in alignment with conservation goals
  • Coordinating all dive logistics and scheduling with science and program teams
  • Issuing PADI certifications promptly via our online dive centre
  • Leading weekly team meetings and participating in weekly planning with the PM and Science Coordinator
  • Mentoring the Field Assistants and assisting with field team training
  • Overseeing equipment servicing, compressor logs, and inventory management
  • Managing PICs, training materials, and restocking in advance
  • Supporting base operations, presentations, and intake/orientation when needed
  • Performing fieldwork 3–4 days per week, depending on season and program needs

🚀 WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Minimum PADI OWSI Instructor certification
  • Degree in Marine Biology or Environmental Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in scheduling and volunteer/dive program management
  • Boat handling and maintenance experience
  • Valid standard driving license (manual preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent
  • Valid Medic First Aid Instructor qualification
  • Experience living in remote, rugged conditions
  • Familiarity with marine or coastal ecosystem research

Bonus if you also have:

  • Powerboat Level 2 license (or equivalent)
  • Previous GVI experience

🎉 WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

  • Monthly salary
  • A unique and immersive conservation experience
  • All meals provided
  • Visa support (where applicable)
  • Growth opportunities across our 17 locations
  • A pathway into long-term marine conservation work
  • Access to ferry discounts (as a local resident)
  • A collaborative, purpose-driven culture
  • In-house training and mentoring
  • Emergency medical and travel insurance
  • Stunning beaches minutes from base, hiking trails and nearby towns

🌴 LIVING & WORKING CONDITIONS AT CAP TERNAY

Set in a lush jungle and just moments from the ocean, Cap Ternay is one of GVI’s most immersive, remote bases. The work is physically demanding, but the environment is unforgettable.

🏡 Base Life & Facilities

  • Basic but comfortable rooms (private for staff)
  • Shared kitchen, balcony and communal spaces
  • Wi-Fi on base (slow but reliable enough for calls & Netflix)
  • Hot showers (note: only for showers – not from the taps)

🍽️ Food & Meals

  • Breakfast: eggs, toast, porridge, cereal
  • Lunch: noodles, rice, samosas, fries
  • Dinner: curries, pastas, salads, etc.
  • We cater for most dietary needs (limited variety for severe restrictions)
  • You cook for yourself (staff and volunteers take turns)

🚗 Transport & Access

  • Base car available for shopping/fuel runs and shared personal use
  • Bus station: 20–30-minute walk (affordable but not always frequent)
  • Local taxis are expensive and rarely used unless in groups

🧗 Fitness & Field Conditions

  • You’ll need the strength to carry dive tanks and hike on uneven terrain
  • Expect long days, heat, humidity, and a high volume of fieldwork
  • The pace is intense but rewarding—you’ll learn, grow, and laugh a lot

📦 What to Pack

Snorkel/dive gear, good hiking shoes, reef-safe sunscreen, a head torch, toiletries, casual jungle-appropriate clothes, extra cables, sentimental items, and a strong sense of humour.
